Sacramento Chapter Membership – –
This upcoming year the Ray Taber Foundation is hosting a free Drill Exploration Class, a twenty-plus year tradition. The field seminar will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Taber Ranch Vineyard and Event Center in Capay Valley. It’s a great day of opportunity for our future civil engineers and geologists (graduate and undergraduate students from our regional university programs) and younger staff to ask questions and to be introduced “hands on” to the field equipment and testing procedures that are fundamental to geotechnical and environmental practices.
We want to communicate two things about the Drill Class to our membership.
First, the Taber Ranch, proud to be celebrating its sesquicentennial year, has donated its grounds and facilities to house this event and the Foundation has the drilling equipment and operators all lined up; however, the Foundation is still looking for volunteer engineers or geologists to serve as teachers at the different drill method stations – mud rotary, hollow stem auger, and CPT. The script is pretty much written so if you have interest, please get in touch with Meredith Young (see below), it is a guaranteed great experience.
Second, as you may know, Ray Taber was a founding member of AEG and his namesake foundation is committed to raising scholarship funds for our local AEG-awarded student scholarships. Sponsorships of the Drill Class are therefore being offered to our membership (especially to the firms who support AEG memberships) to raise funds that will help our industry compete for the best and brightest students. Sponsors will get their name (and logo if a firm) on all class promotional materials and will receive a tax deductible receipt for their donation. Sponsorships are a flat $350 and go directly towards hosting the free seminar (with lunch, snacks, etc.) and AEG Scholarships for students.
In addition, a raffle will be held at the end of the seminar where logo items are always popular and a great way to get a firm’s name in the hands of students.
If you are interested in volunteering your time, becoming a sponsor, giving a donation or a raffle prize, or have any questions, contact Meredith Young at firstname.lastname@example.org or 916.402.7506.
